Is it ok with you cover your tattoo and go tanning a few days after its done?

The sun and tanning will fade a tattoo with time. Keep it covered for the first two weeks or so and then put a heavy sunblock on it so it doesn't fade after that. Your sallon should sell a stick (sort of like chapstick) that you can put on it. Enjoy your tat

no it is not....the skin on or around the tattoo must be unaffected for at least 90 days...no swimming...avoid letting water in the shower beat down on it (can cause fading), and most of all keep it out of the sun and keep it protected.
Reply:If you cover it with a dark piece of cloth, I suppose, but I still wouldn't recommend it. Plus let me put it to you this way - I went to Cancun 2 months after I got my tattoo so I was even more anal about making sure I had enough sunscreen over my tattooed area even more so than the rest of my body %26amp; I ended up with a lighter patch of skin where I put the extra sunscreen on compared to the rest of my tanned skin. So if you can imagine someone with newly dark tanned skin with a lighter circle of skin on their lower back around their tattoo, that was me.
Reply:I wouldnt. If you take a covered tattoo and put it in a microwave, the covering comes off, and you've got a vivisble tattoo again, so when you consider that a tanning bed basically does the same thing, I'd stay away.
Reply:What would you cover it with? I think this is probably an extremely bad idea. Tattoos are very sensitive to light (you should put sunscreen on them whenver you go out in the sun) and if it's new you shouldn't be putting stuff like that on it until it has fully healed (at least a few weeks).

Tanning is horrible for you anyhow.
Reply:Although it's not recommended by tattoo artists - i think it's ok, as long as it's completely covered.

Make sure it is fully healed though, because if it's still in the healing process (even though it may be covered) - it could slow/alter/mess up the healing process
Reply:Yes Kacie Just put a little savlon cream on it and a light gauze dressing After a few days a light crust should be forming over it so treat it like you would a graze its just a matter of not letting it stick to the covering so when you remove it it wont tear away the crust . go tone that body . cu .
Reply:sunscreen does not protect your tattoo from the sun. the ink will be broken down with sunlight exposure whether you use sunscreen or not. stay out of the sun period. who wants leathery skin? not me.
Reply:I don't know why everyone is so bloody spazzy about this question...sometimes after a tattoo you may need to tan for some reason (we all don't know this chick's life story!) Just cover with a bandaid or tape on a solid peice of cloth and tan away!! It's not a big deal as long as it's covered. I got a tattoo then went to Mexico...I just always made sure it was covered...and I didn't swim for the first couple days. Just make sure it is fully healed so you don't damage the tat by rubbing fabric on it.
Reply:no

ur advised to stay out of uv rays permanatly when u have a tattoo
Reply:i tanned after i got mine on my back and just put that white wash rag that they always give you and cover it up while you tan and make sure to put lotion on
Reply:No I highly do NOT recommend it! You should refrain from using the tanning bed until your tattoo is completely healed. Please note the sunlight and the tanning beds will cause your tattoo to fade in color. Also you don't want to cover your new tattoo up with anything until its healed. When you first get it done it should be wrapped up, but after about and hour after getting the tattoo done it should be removed. Covering your tattoo up slows down the healing process, can bring more of the color out, can cause it to get irritate and or infected.

Plus covering your tattoo at any time in the tanning bed or when your tanning outdoors will cause you to have a light patch of skin where you coved it would look horrible.
Reply:NO IT"S NOT!!!! Your skin is still trying to heal after 2 or 3 weeks! That will mess it up! Just don't go tanning until you KNOW it's healed! I would say give yourself a good month!
