I have a friend who wants to start going to the tanning bed with me.?

She has dark hair and dark eyes, but she is pretty pale. How long should she get in for her first time?

I have a friend who wants to start going to the tanning bed with me.?
i dont know but can i go with u 2?? :P
Reply:5 minutes
Reply:She should start out at 5 minutes the first day. It is not good to use tanning beds daily. Have her use it again maybe 2-3 days later this time for 10 minutes. Continue following this pattern and eventually her skin will be conditioned and she'll gradually develop a tan within three weeks time.
Reply:It really depends on the bed. Is it a 10 minute bed, a 20 minute bed or other? Is it a stand up? Sounds like she tans well. But these are questions to ask the person working there that knows the beds. Tanning beds are dangerous so make sure you go somewhere where the staff is knowledgeable and willing to take the time to work with you. One way to tell is how they "orientate" the new costumers. Do they walk you into the rooms and show you the different kinds of bed? Do they seem to understand them? Does the staff clean the beds or are you required to? Do they make you where goggles? and most importantly do they explain the risks and how to minimize them? Do they suggest you where some kind of lotion? Wearing lotion keeps the skin moist and helps to keep it from drying out. Good luck! (On a regular 20 minute bed I would suggest 8-10 minutes the first time, on a 10 minute bed 3-5 minutes and on a very high quality bed 3 minutes). See how she does. If she burns (and hopefully she wont!)she must wait til it is gone until she tans again. TANNING IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN BURNING AND A BURN WILL NOT TURN INTO A TAN!
Reply:I agree with Kate...about 5 minutes....she should do that for about a week and GRADUALLY work her way up a couple minutes at a time each week. Also, using a salon-brand bronzer helps.

Is it true that you shouldn't shower after you go tanning?

Showering after using a tanning bed or laying in the sun will not have any effect on your tan, because the damage has been done. You shouldn't be tanning, period. Skin cancer aside, you'll age prematurely with wrinkles and "liver spots", which are really "sun damage spots". So if you care about your looks, don't tan.... use a sunless tanner.

Is it true that you shouldn't shower after you go tanning?
dont know i dont tann
Reply:yea the water may burn your skin
Reply:Only if the "tanning" is wipe on.
Reply:no it's not true, i always get a shower when i get home from tanning. you have lotion on you still, and i know they wash the tanning beds after each use, but how good! take you a shower.
Reply:For about an hour at least...think about it. You've just "dyed" the color of your outer most skin cells, do you want to wash all that off?
Reply:I have been tanning for years, and I have heard if you are using a bronzing tanning lotion which is very popular right now you should not shower for a couple of hours to let the lotion soak into your skin. I have heard people say they shower right after tanning and still had a golden tan. I personally wait a couple hours before showering.

Why does my skin look like a giraffe after applying sunless tanning products?

It looks splotchy as if I was sprayed with paint. I only used the creams. Is there a technique or a product that will prevent this?

Why does my skin look like a giraffe after applying sunless tanning products?
The product could be a factor. The next is the application technique. The texture of the cream should also be easy to spread and blend.

I firmly believe in airbrush sunless tanning salons.

They are the best ways to achieve a tan without the splotchy streaks and the harmful rays of the sun.
Reply:You have combination skin, the oils you produce block the creams and wash off, leaving non oily areas tanned and the rest white.

I had the same issue, I don't really know how to solve it unless you just tan naturally or at a salon.
Reply:Another option is your skin is not properly moistureized. You could have dry spots and the skin is absorbing more than the others. Try properly exfoliating and moisturizing before applying sunless tanning products.

I am an realy light skined, and it's real hard for me to get a tan, any suggestions??? besides tanning salons

my friend layers jergens natural glow for face %26amp; banana boat sundial on her face, %26amp; banana boat sundial %26amp; l`oreal sublime glow on her body...she swears by these 3, she uses them all daily %26amp; she is super dark!!! she doesn`t have the orange color either!!!

I am an realy light skined, and it's real hard for me to get a tan, any suggestions??? besides tanning salons
there are alot of tanning lotions that are super good now. try coppertone
Reply:lay out in the sun with tanning lotion or tanning oil. if you don't want to lay out at all you can use sunless tanning lotion
Reply:try TAN TOWEL or some kind of self tanning lotion, but be careful because if you don't put them on evenly you will have tan spots all over you!

good luck!
Reply:Girl, I could bet you a lot that I am whiter than you are! My skin is as white as paper almost. I dont even bother with trying to tan or using tanning lotions. Its to much trouble, trust me.

All the cream ones make you orange and all the spray-ons leave spots. Just DONT DO IT! Listen to me, I know from experience! Besides, your natural skin color is sooo much sexier then anything you can do to kill your skin or find on the shelves at walmart. Besides, EVERYBODY wants a tan and does what they can to get one! Why not stand out of the crowd with your white skin! Show them thats its not so bad!
Reply:i think porcelain skin is BEAUTIFUL. look at nicole kidman and keira knightley and scarlett johanssen - they're super pale and absolutely stunning.

if you're really set on the tan, though, try MysticTan. it's $30, but it lasts for like a month. You get it done at a normal tanning salon, but it's spray-on, so not actually tanning, if your parents are worried about skin cancer and such. promise you won't be orangey or gross - it's professional, not do-it-yourself crap.
Reply:get the.....jergens.........stuff its for natural glow and it can make u tanner and even though i have median to tan skin it worked for me.

Was wondering if someone can give me some info on spray tanning like how much it cost and how long it last?

well i have had them..

you have to be careful because you could end up with streaks bc of not whiping properly.

they are usually start around 25 dollars and get pretty pricey for the really good ones

they have you watch a video when you get it and depending on where you go you may turn orange...

**** it will fade after a few days and eventually just fade away

Was wondering if someone can give me some info on spray tanning like how much it cost and how long it last?
i had my whole body done it was like 40 and they did a great job it lasted a good week!!! i tried the stuff in a bottle and that stuff is awful yhey told me at the salon that if you have dry skin in areas you wont get an even tan
Reply:hey depending on where you live in Australia min$25-$40 it usually lasts up too 1 week make sure you exfoliate well before you go too get it done and after dont shower for at least 12 hours but make sure you moisturise really well during the week to keep your tan looking hot good luck girl
Reply:For all information and details about tanning please check out http://use-tanning.blogspot.com/
Reply:sunfx works very well and it should cost $20 per tan it lasts one to two weeks

Whats the best way to protect your hair while in the tanning bed?

My hair is damaged from hair dyes. Is it necessary to cover my hair?

Whats the best way to protect your hair while in the tanning bed?
Try to cover your face as well if possible. I used to go to a tanning salon every day and 2-3 years later I have 2 large sun spots on my face. The friend I used to go to the same tanning salon with, have even darker %26amp; larger spots. Be careful.
Reply:You can cover your hair with a towel.
Reply:ABSOLUTELY!!! WHAT THE TANNING BED DOES TO YOUR SKIN, TH UV RAYS DO TO YOUR HAIR!!! COVER UP!!! A BANDANA OR TOWEL...!
Reply:a tanning cap
Reply:I dont see any reason why a tanning bed should hurt your hair but if you really want to you can put a salon towel over your hair.
Reply:Use a hand towel. They will usually supply one to you when you walk in. Wrap it around your head like you would when you get out of the shower. CAUTION make sure not to cover your hairline, neck or ears, it will cause unnecessary tanning lines!

street fighting

Can you listen to an mp3 player while laying in the tanning bed?

UV rays have no effect on stuff like that. you people must live in caves, cause if you think it'll do damage, then the sun would damage it too. Better yet, listen to them. dont listen to it in the tanning bed, and for heavens sake, dont take it outside, cause the sun will melt it. feeble-minded half-wits

Can you listen to an mp3 player while laying in the tanning bed?
If in a tanning bad no because it will ruin the mp3 and thats bad!
Reply:if you want to risk something bad happening. i dont know what can go wrong but i bet something can

Is there a rule that I can or cannot go indoor tanning 2 days in a row? Would it safe for me to do this?

yes there is a rule, 24 hours in between tanning session at the place you go, there is nothing to say you cant go to another place, and tan again within the 24 hour period

Is there a rule that I can or cannot go indoor tanning 2 days in a row? Would it safe for me to do this?
I used to. Some salons say no.... I didn't have a problem with it.
Reply:It might depend on your state, but I don't think that's a rule. A lot of salons have their own rules - I think most common the rule is that you can't go twice in one day.
Reply:i use to go tanning indoors everyday for a month but could not stay longer than 1 hour that was the rule that the salon set
Reply:My sister use to manage a tanning salon. She told me the best way to get a tan is go for a short time the first day. Let your body get use to it the next day then go for a little longer the day after. So every other day is the best way to get a good tan without burning yourself.
Reply:It is perfectly safe and there are no rules. Although there is a concern that long term use of tanning beds may lead to skin cancers the data on this is somewhat limited. Nearly all of what we know about tanning is from excessive exposure to sun light. The luminescence of tanning beds is not as harmful. I had a tanning bed at home for years and I miss it. Enjoy.
Reply:Try not to go 2 days in a row. Your skin needs a break and you don't want to burn.
Reply:They say tanning isn't safe to begin with, but the tanning salon I go to, you have to wait 24 hours before you can tan again.

Have you ever seen a mother put her baby in a tanning bed before?

What would you do if you saw that?

Have you ever seen a mother put her baby in a tanning bed before?
I would report it to the company manager and ask them to intervene immediately, call the police maybe.
Reply:I assume you mean while it was on not something like sat it there for a minute to say clean up a split sippy cup? I would think she was a highly irresponsible, looks centered person.
Reply:omg shes crazy
Reply:This is a crazy question if i saw that I would call child services!
Reply:I would hardly believe my eyes, and probably ask her is she was really going ot do that! I mean, if she had to set him down to grab something, but ot do it legitmately for a tan-that woman's got problems!
Reply:Was the baby wearing sun block??

No, in all seriousness, I think increasing your childs risk of cancer for cosmetic reasons, should be grounds to call CPS.
Reply:Social Services, anybody?
Reply:I am not a confrontational person, so I am not sure I would say or do anything. But my god who would do something like that; are they that vain! Saying something to the people that allowed it is probably the right way to go. Maybe the employees or manager of the business should hold some responsibility in this because they should not allow such a thing to happen. If they told the mother NO she wouldn't be doing it in the first place. I don't know what fascination people have with tanning beds and getting tans. It's just not for babies or children. It should be a decision for them to make on their own when they are much older.

NO BUSINESS SHOULD ALLOW THIS ESPECIALLY IF THEY DON'T KNOW THE RISKS INVOLVED! AND SHAME ON THE PARENTS WHO WOULD DO THIS TO THEIR CHILD!
Reply:Hey, hey! Before we all go calling the baby cops, perhaps you should consider a little personal risk and politely ask if she thinks that's healthy for her baby. The whole problem might be solved in a moments time, and the worse you could get is snapped at.

Maybe she's a new mother who just hasn't figured it all out yet. If you're getting tanned too, offer to hold the baby for her while she tans. If you work at the tanning place, ask a supervisor. There are probably rules against taking small children into the booth.

I hesitate to call CPS on anyone. I've seen what they can arbitrarily do in my own family, and I refer to them as Child Prevention Services.
Reply:i would **************************** throw up cuz babies ************************** disgust me but that baby would be kinda cool cuz it would have like a nice tan
Reply:report her to cps
Reply:Report her to DHS!!!!!!!!!!

Can i use the Australian gold SPF 15 lotion for indoor tanning?

yeah, you can use it for indoor tanning. I don't know if you're using that high of an SPF because you burn easily, but I would use a lower SPF tanning lotion than 15 on your body. Using 15 SPF on your face is a good idea, however.

I've started using 8 SPF on my face and chest (the places I burn easily) when i tan indoors. Works perfectly.

How old do you have to be to work at a tanning salon?

the minimun work age is 14, and i live in alberta canada

How old do you have to be to work at a tanning salon?
I live in Medicine Hat , and it's generally been my experience that unless you're 16 you won't be able to work at a tanning salon. (16 is also the general age you can start tanning without parental permission in most shops.) Actually the minimum working age in Alberta is 12, and many businesses (not just tanning salons) make it policy to hire 16+ because of this (most kids are too immature to work at 12, waste of time for the business, so it deters young applicants). However due to the labor shortage in tertiary industry many franchises are lowering their age standards to find workers, so there may be a few shops that hire you, just because they're so strapped. The only way to know for sure is to call and ask.
Reply:I believe its 18 to work at a tanning salon because of liability.
Reply:there is no license for tanning.. so what ever age your state has works

and it depends on if they will hire you at your age

those things are dangerous

How soon after havin a baby can u lay in the tanning bed?

If you had a normal vaginal delivery I would guess that you could go right away. I would consult a doctor about tanning if you had a C section b/c of scarring

How soon after havin a baby can u lay in the tanning bed?
Umm as soon as you are ready to go out.

I don't see any reason why not.

My friends and I want to start up a coffee shop/tanning salon...where do we begin? Any suggestions??
Go to coffee shops and tanning salons and talk to the owners and have a look at the things you like and want to have in yours.

Start out small.

Agree on everything in writing with your friends before you invest any money in anything.

Don't forget location-location-location!
Reply:You might want to look into buying an already existing coffee shop. These are fun and relaxed businesses to own, however the profit margin is low. If you can find a coffee shop that is already running, has customers, and is generating profit, you might be better off than starting from scratch. There is a listing of coffee shops for sale at the following link:

I been using proactive solution for two weeks. Will proactive solution affect my face IF I tan in tanning bed?

Proactive makes your skin more acceptable. You might want to put sunblock on your face before tanning so you don't burn.

I been using proactive solution for two weeks. Will proactive solution affect my face IF I tan in tanning bed?
actually tanning MARGINALLY will help your complexion it dosnt sound great but what it dose is dry your skin a little and your not as oily.
Reply:Proactiv makes the skin sensitive to the sun.. I don't know about thoes lights but I would deff wear a lot of sunscreen when I go in
Reply:yes you might want to even use a SPF on your face and all places where you put proactive on.(very sensitive)

one of the product contains glycolic acic /AHA it exfoliates skin.you have to protect skin from the sun it might get burnt.or uneven tan
Reply:Yes you would probably get burnt if you don't use sunscreen.

The chemical in it makes it really easy for your skin to Burn, but if you use sunscreen on you face you should not burn(or if you use a moisturizer with SPF in it).
Reply:i don't know about tanning of course lol, but i would definetely use sunscreen...I know about getting sunburn ouch.
Reply:Tanning beds are as bad for you as tanning in the sun, if not worse! Both kinds of tanning may lead to skin cancer which can sometimes be removed with surgery, and sometimes leads to death.

Add to this the fact that Proactive solution contains many chemicals which can be harsh on some skin-types, and often will make skin even more sun-sensitive, and you have a recipe for disaster.

If you are very attached to tanning, I suggest buying a gradual chemical tanning lotion instead. It's safer and cheaper than tanning beds.

What's a good dependable brand (not very expensive0 of sunless tanning?

Ive used Bananna Boat's "Everyday Glow." Its a lotion, that you apply over your entire body (including you face) and it wont turn you orange with in a few hours. You pick your shade of shin. (fair, medium, or dark) Its as simple as lotioning up everyday after you get out of the shower. You use it until you reach your desired color. I use it for 3-4days, then I stop for about 3-4days. What i like most about it, is that its oil free, and i can wear a white tee an hour after applying and there will be NO brown/orange marks on the tee! i hope this helps you out.

What's a good dependable brand (not very expensive0 of sunless tanning?
I reccomend getting the build a tan stuff that gives you a gradual tan and it won't turn you bright orange. I know jergens makes a great product, thay have lotion that you apply like a regular moisturizer and it gradually darkens your skin over time.
Reply:i have tried almost all and they all suck. they come out either streaky, orange or just look fake. go to a sunless tanning bed where they spray it takes 7 seconds and looks great
Reply:As far as I am concerned they all suck.I've tried exspensive ones and they make you orange just like the cheap ones do.Go to a tanning bed.

How old do you have to be to go into a tanning salon?

18, 16, 14?

How old do you have to be to go into a tanning salon?
In most states you have to be sixteen AND have a parental signature. If you are 18 or older, than you have free range to tan wherever and whenever you'd like.
Reply:at the one i had to go to u had to be 16. my friend who is 15 went and had her mom sign a paper and she can tan as much as she wants to now too =)
Reply:if you are under 18, you need a parent. you can be any age though.
Reply:I dont know the exact age but I know my friend goes and she's 14.
Reply:first time if you're under 18 your parents have to sign saying it's okay and all that jazz. (LOL) then after that 14 and older at places where i live. These 2 places i know are 14 and older after 1st time but those are the only salons i've ever been in: TANNIN BARE and SUN TAN CITY.

hope i helped!

Reply:you can tan as early as your parents will let you. alot of the highschool girls like to tan before prom and they are what 15,16,17. so i dont know how old you are, but i dont think its a problem
Reply:alot of 15 year old girls in my school have done it, but think before you get it done, becasue even though it wares off in a while, it looks fake and orange and disgusting on every single person i've ever seen with it. it looks likes you've put way to much foundation on, but all over your body. it's obvious when you get a fake tan, just lay out in the sun for a while and get a real one, it's safer and it looks a hell of alot better.
Reply:i have seen 12 year old sgo in, it al depends where you go. Usually the age is 13 or 14.

Reply:Not to get all up on the soapbox, but tanning is 100% as bad for you as it is as rumored to me. Probably worse. You are significantly increasing your odds of getting skin cancer. As for your white bumps, it could be a simple skin irritation, but I'd check with a doctor if you are going to continue tanning in spite of the health risks and the premature aging. How long would it take for you to 'bake' in a tanning booth?

One hour and you would need skin grafts, two hours, good night Vienna!

How long would it take for you to 'bake' in a tanning booth?
u mean cook your insides? impossible lol.
Reply:To start you should use them twice a week for 6 minutes a time. After 3 weeks, go to 8 minutes twice a week. After 2 more weeks, 10 minutes twice a week. Then you should only go on once a week for 8 minutes to keep it up. Anyone thinking about going on for over 12 minutes needs a brain transplant, you will burn, and not be able to tan for at least a month after that. Don't be stupid and think you could go on for a longer period of time and cheat your skin. And you need an accelorator cream so that speeds your tanning up, so you don't spend more time than needed on a bed/stand up.

Does it make me less of a man if I go tanning?

no not really but stay away from tanning booths you will age quicker because tanning booths have the same rays from the sun but more powerful like more damaging ( just some advice you dont have to follow it if you dont want to )

not at all. Why would it? Men like to be tan too.

Is a ballast a ballast whether it be for flouresent or tanning bulb?

Thinking of making my on canopy and was wondering the difference of the two.

Is a ballast a ballast whether it be for flouresent or tanning bulb?
Just check it is for the right wattage of bulb.

The two types of tube are actually the same thing electrically.

The only difference is the types of phosphor that each tube is lined with.

A fluorescent tube emits ultra violet light.

The phosphor coating in the tube fluoresces and changes the UV into whatever wavelength of light you want it to.
Reply:Yes, it is.

Does any one know a repair man or service for home tanning beds in or near Canton ohio?
Good possibility it has a fuse. Almost all consumer products of that type have to be fused. The same thing with clothes driers etc. Have some one with at least some mechanical or electrical moxy check it out if you don't feel comfortable doing it your self. I'd hate to see you paying some over priced appliance tech to just change a fuse.
Reply:I have repaired tanning beds for years. Normally it is a wire burned out from the top to the bottom. Check there first. ( Unplug the tanning bed before you do anything).

Ladies, would your husband or boyfriend allow you to use a tanning bed?

I don't think I would ever allow my girl to do that b/c it greatly increases the risk of skin cancer plus if she were to keep doing it, her skin would become 'leathery' when she got older.

Reply:i wouldn't want to. why would i want to self induce cancer and appear the ORANGE, and look like an Ompa-Lumpa?!
Reply:its her choice you can persuad her and try to convinve u cant just tell her what to and not to do. yes they are dangerous.
Reply:There is no "allowing" in my relationship. We are free to do as we choose as long as we respect ourselves and each other. So, if my boyfriend wanted to, that's his decision. It's his body, not mine.

Reply:I use it sparingly, It doesnt hurt to have a nice tan during summer. I have found that laying out to tan is much better for the skin then the UVs from tanning. My hubby would rather me lay out than use the tanning bed.
Reply:Free will, I'm not one who is big on tanning beds b/c of sun damage , but you want ever have a lady if your really that controlling.
Reply:Even if any guy allowed me to use a tanning bed, I still wouldn't want to. I make my own decisions...and if I wanted to get a tan, I would prefer to catch some rays the old-fashioned way...the sun.

Reply:Allow me??? Since when does another person who isn't my mother have the right to allow me or disallow me to do anything??? Advise, sure I understand, Request, maybe, ask politely with good reason, fine, but no matter the topic, you habe no right to be "allowing" her to do/not do anything.

Now that we got that clear, no, my husband would advise me, request of me, and ask me politlely NOT to use a tanning bed for those reasons you have mentioned above.
Reply:wow, i don't think i would ever be your girlfriend, cause nobody is allowed to tell me what to do, not even my parents, (even if they're paying for it), i do use tanning beds, i wouldn't go to the beach yuck, i hate the sun, and if i don't want to have "leathery" skin i would use creams!!!! just that simple, ha ha

Is the supplement CO Q-10 good for your skin during tanning or is it just for cardiovasular health?

CoQ-10 is also produced in our body and it is essential for basic cell functioning. While you can take supplements, it is still controversial if the supplements have any benefits.

For more information, please go here to read what the Mayo Clinic has to say:

http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/coenzym...

Since CoQ-10 is important to cell functioning, it would help with replacing the cells damaged by the harmful rays when tanning but that is about it. Please note though that it is the CoQ-10 that is produced by your body that would help. There is no documentation that the supplement does anything for the body. Remember, "natural" products don't go through stringent testing by the FDA so there is no documentation of whether they do anything at all...harmful or beneficial.

Is it possible to get skin discoloration from self tanners or tanning beds?

I used both...not at the same time. One each summer. But I have some discoloration on my legs now. Its like tiny little freckle looking like things and in the same part of boths legs.

Is it possible to get skin discoloration from self tanners or tanning beds?
Its possible that it is caused from the tanners since UV rays can cause skin cancer. Its unlikely that it is cancer, very unlikely, but it would be a good idea to see a dermatologist. The only other cause of freckles is genetic, the sun, and tanning beds/booths.

owever, some hormones and medications can cause skin

discoloration. “In terms of the rest of your question, medication

interactions and hormone imbalances may cause a huge variety of

problems. This is not a usual cause of freckles though.

Hypo-parathyroidism presents often as hot, flushed skin and not as

freckles.”

How old do you have to be to go to a tanning salon?

18, or 16 with parent consent

How old do you have to be to go to a tanning salon?
i would say 14 or older, a lot of girls that i go to school with practically tan every other day and their 15 to 18 yrs old
Reply:i think you can go without an adult when your 16 or 17 but befor then you have to be with a parent or guardain!God bless you and a happy new year :)
Reply:Depends on what the laws are in the state you live in. Most states you have to be 18 to tan in a bed, but if you're younger, you can tan with a parent's consent. There is no age restriction on sunless tanning, like Mystic Tan.
Reply:Why would any intelligent being want to go to a tanning salon? There is absolutely no doubt that smoking cigarettes causes lung, throat and other cancers. And, there is absolutely no doubt that there is no safe tan. Contrary to what the tanning salon personnel may say, subjecting youself to the tanning process sets you up for skin cancer in the future...no doubt. You may develop basal cell carcinoma, squamos cell carcinoma or melanoma. Melanoma tends to spread to other organs rapidly so it may very well lead to death. Why not try some of the new tanning lotions that can be applied topically?!
Reply:Old enough to decide you want to pay for skin cancer.
Reply:In the state I am in their is no age restriction on tanning in a tanning salon.

Also it is a PROVEN fact that if you are going to tan it IS safer to do so in a tanning bed,as the UV rays are filtered and they are NOT filtered outside.

Also why would anyone want to spend hours and hours getting the color someone can get with a couple of 20 min sessions.

I tan using a tanning bed and I love it,also do not let people tell you that it will make your skin bad or turn to leather. Those are usually people who cannot get a tan and are jealous,or are too poor or cheap to pay for the experience. If you moisturize well everyday after tanning and keep your skin soft and moisturized it will NOT have a negative affect on your skin.

Oh and having no tan lines is sexy ..so enjoy :o)
Reply:Look at George Hamilton %26amp; tell me his skin does not look like leather. Tanning DOES age your skin, causes skin cancer (%26amp; yes that is a proven fact) %26amp; also will cause all kinds of uneven spots (usually pre-cancers) to show up on your skin. If you want a great looking safe tan go to a salon %26amp; get airbrushed, it is awesome %26amp; if they are good at what they do, they can create a more sculpted look by the way they apply it. If tanning beds are sooo safe why do you thinks that most of the celebs in Tinsel Town are "fake baking" now???? Don't believe me on the dangers? Check out these links.

What are some things to look for when buying an existing tanning salon?

I would look at their financials. Are they making a profit? Have sales declined recently (if so, customers may be upset and you may have to deal with negative feelings or new competition may have entered the market). How many long-term clients are there? How many are undercontract - thus captive clients? Also see if it has been fined or cited, thats important reputation wise as well as regulation wise. Check out the condition of the equipment. Also, look at the lease - is it about to expire and go up? Those are few things I woudl look at first. Also, maybe yuo wil want to enlist the help of a business appraiser/broker in your area, they can help you ask the right quetions and appropriately assess the value. Good luck!

I was curious as to what some of your favorite indoor tanning lotions are?

There are so many to choose from, I was just wondering if some where better than others. Do you prefer tingles or bronzers or just plain lotions? Thanks

I was curious as to what some of your favorite indoor tanning lotions are?
I used to work in a tanning salon and our most popular lotion was called Black Smoke. I have tested it many times and it gave me great color. They also have a tingle and a hemp version of it, but I never touched the tingles. Tingle lotions bring your red blood cells to the surface of your skin helping you tan, but all I feel that tingles do is make me burn and itch. They are really uncomfortable and only for the hardcore tanners. Black Smoke is a wonderful bronzer, and moisturized my skin perfectly. A lot of customers raved about it and we were always sold out of it within days of getting a new shipment.
Reply:i dont no i just need some points i didn't even read the ?
Reply:i don't know a whole lot about tanning, but i smelled this girl once that had some indoor tanner on that smelled like a fresh baked yellow cake. yum.
Reply:Neutrogena has a foam lotion that really works quite well. Best tip, though is to use something like a loofa in the shower before you put the tanner on to be sure your skin is really free of any lotions, etc. Also, take your time and don't try to get the final tan in one application!
Reply:i dont use them.. sorry to say i fake bake.. but still its the same as a real tan.. so there shouldnt be anything wrong.. and i dont go in long.. and not that much a month either..
Reply:jergens glow or olay a touch of sun!
Reply:That stuff makes you look orange

This is a question for anyone who has ever used mystic tanning...?

1. how much does it cost?

2. How long does it stay on, and does it come off when you shower or wash your face?

2. does it come off on ur clothes?

4. how often should you get it done?

This is a question for anyone who has ever used mystic tanning...?
1. how much does it cost? The place I went it was $30 a session, or unlimited for $55 a month.

2. How long does it stay on, and does it come off when you shower or wash your face? On my skin, it stayed on for approx. 12-15 days. No, it did not wash off easily.

3. does it come off on ur clothes? not after the initial few minutes. If you wipe it off right (in an upward motion with a towel) then no, after that nothing on the clothes. I would recommend using the clear kind as oposed to the bronzed kind. You won't get the color for about 4-5 hours with the clear and it comes out more even and is less likely to get on your clothes.

4. how often should you get it done? I would say that really depends on how well your skin takes it, but I was doing it about once every 2.5 weeks.

Tip: Make sure you use the barrier cream on your hands, feet and I even put a light layer on my face (keeps it from looking fake, but still gives enough color). You don't want to come out looking like an orange.

I had a good experience with this type tanning. Hope this helps you out! =)

What do I use when I'm about to go sun tanning in a pool?

Oh yea I DON'T want NO sunburn!!

What do I use when I'm about to go sun tanning in a pool?
Well if your tanning in or next to a pool, you should still use spf 15 or 30, b/c when you are at a pool you will get tanner, quicker! the water soaks up the suns rays, and that makes it more attracted to you, even in the shade, but you know, even if you get sunburnt, you will still get tan. but don't try to tan too much, you can get skin cancer. my dad got skin cancer on his face!
Reply:"Waterbabies" is made for children and stays on for a long time even in the pool. I think Coppertone makes it.
Reply:Use something that is not too heavy but not too weak also it depends where you are going!
Reply:use a tanning lotion with an SPF of 8. It will build up your tan, yet keep you from burning! remember to reapply every time you get out of the pool or towel off.
Reply:never use baby oil in the sun it is like cooking oil, it will burn you quicker.....use a baby sun tan lotion as it will be water proof but if you don't wanna burn then don't use baby oil, i use baby oil sometimes in england just to help with my tan but it does burn me quick then i go brown later but i advise you not to do this cuz ov skin cancer.
Reply:not baby oil thats for sure.

Does anyone have a problem with ladybugs when laying in a tanning bed? What can be done to get rid of them?

They just swarm to the light, but it's really aggravating. Any advice?

Does anyone have a problem with ladybugs when laying in a tanning bed? What can be done to get rid of them?
I dont know anything about the lady bugs, but Im here to say, u should stop tanning. I hear it's one cause of skin cancer. I'm not sure how (i forgot), but Dr. Oz talked about it on "Oprah"
Reply:lol nope i tan and i have never had a problum with any lady bugs.. :)
Reply:Wow umm if you're going to a tanning salon then that may be considered a health hazard....let them know about the problem and have them take care of it or don't go back there!!!

If it's your own bed then go to a hardware store or somewhere you can find a spray that will take care of the ladybugs but is also safe for tanning bed type equipment...good luck

Walking
Reply:I burn big time, so I slap on the old sunblock 60 and swim the whole time practically. I hate suntanning. Besides it takes me like 1/2 an hour just to get IN the water so, I'm not going to get out right away after that ordeal!.

Is white pale legs ugly in the summer to show, since tanning can be so dangerous?

Try Dove summer glow. It's a lotion with a hint of sunless tanner. You start to see a subtle difference in one day with full results in three. This keeps you lookin natural and your skin moisturized at the same time. Hoped I helped :-)

Is white pale legs ugly in the summer to show, since tanning can be so dangerous?
No, I think they are pretty :-) I am pale and freckled and avoid the sun purposely. If you are pale, that's you. Don't risk anything with tanning - It's not worth it! If anything, go for a fake tan at a salon or grab a kit to do yourself. Good luck!
Reply:yes, get fake tan, b ut make sure its a good one cos you dont want to look orange, or get it done professionally but no one likes white legs, sorry!
Reply:I prefer pale as long as the skin is nice and smooth. Tanning your skin will make it look ugly as you get older.
Reply:In my opinion, it's not ugly at all.

I don't get why people want to change their skin color. Pale girls want to tan while dark girls want skin lightening cream (some, not all).

What's wrong with keeping what you have?
Reply:Neutrogena makes an excellent bronzer that you can apply to make your skin look good. It wont look yellow!
Reply:Why don'y you go get a spray tan you can get one from a beauty salon or now you can buy the spray guns from a department store
Reply:Why should it be ugly? But if you feel uncomfortable, just use a self tanner or a shimmer lotion or sprays (look Sally Hansen´s) which is basically makeup.
Reply:dangerous???

ummm... only if u get a tan
Reply:well it can be but it depends what u are wearing- warm colours make your legs look tanned and even. if u really dont like showing your legs if they are white tho try a light tanning moisturiser
Reply:depends on the rest of you.. lol but you can try the bronzer products by lancome.
Reply:Absolutely not Its very beautiful and it make's it look like Winter time when its hot! I heart pale whiteness!!! And I'm brown skinned!

Why aren't you supposed to shower immediately after using a tanning bed?

How long are you supposed to wait for? Does it really make that significant of a difference if I shower asap opposed to if I wait an hour?

Why aren't you supposed to shower immediately after using a tanning bed?
The normal range of waiting time Is between 5 and 9 hours depending on the type of tanning you have received.

Waiting this amount time will give your tan time to set in. If you shower after wards you are basically washing the tan down the drain and therefore wasting your money.
Reply:wait 24 hours. I guess because after you tan, your skin is still darkening and you don't want it to fade away.

How long should you wait to shower after laying in the tanning bed?

An hour or so should be fine.

PS I hope you don't overdo the tanning sessions because you are putting yourself at a high risk of cancer!;

How long should you wait to shower after laying in the tanning bed?
What, you think you are gonna wash the cancer off?
Reply:I don't really know how true it is. But I've heard, to get the full effects of tanning, you should wait 2 hours before showering. I always wait, tanning is expensive and I don't want to chance it.
Reply:My daughter and sister go regularly and wait at least two hours before showering.
Reply:I don't think it matters because it's not like its a spray on tan and will wash off.
Reply:You should not be laying in a tanning bed at all due to the wrinkling and huge risk of skin cancer, but if you were to lay in a tanning bed, you can shower whenever you are ready.
Reply:You can take a shower whenever you want to. Your tan is not going to wash off so you got nothing to worry about:) I take a shower right after I get home. But its mostly because I hate that burnt skin smell...
Reply:eh. wait and hour or so. i dont think it really matters all that much cuz its not goign to change anythign but yea.

hope this helps :]
