How old do you have to be to go to a tanning salon?

18, or 16 with parent consent

How old do you have to be to go to a tanning salon?
i would say 14 or older, a lot of girls that i go to school with practically tan every other day and their 15 to 18 yrs old
Reply:i think you can go without an adult when your 16 or 17 but befor then you have to be with a parent or guardain!God bless you and a happy new year :)
Reply:Depends on what the laws are in the state you live in. Most states you have to be 18 to tan in a bed, but if you're younger, you can tan with a parent's consent. There is no age restriction on sunless tanning, like Mystic Tan.
Reply:Why would any intelligent being want to go to a tanning salon? There is absolutely no doubt that smoking cigarettes causes lung, throat and other cancers. And, there is absolutely no doubt that there is no safe tan. Contrary to what the tanning salon personnel may say, subjecting youself to the tanning process sets you up for skin cancer in the future...no doubt. You may develop basal cell carcinoma, squamos cell carcinoma or melanoma. Melanoma tends to spread to other organs rapidly so it may very well lead to death. Why not try some of the new tanning lotions that can be applied topically?!
Reply:Old enough to decide you want to pay for skin cancer.
Reply:In the state I am in their is no age restriction on tanning in a tanning salon.

Also it is a PROVEN fact that if you are going to tan it IS safer to do so in a tanning bed,as the UV rays are filtered and they are NOT filtered outside.

Also why would anyone want to spend hours and hours getting the color someone can get with a couple of 20 min sessions.

I tan using a tanning bed and I love it,also do not let people tell you that it will make your skin bad or turn to leather. Those are usually people who cannot get a tan and are jealous,or are too poor or cheap to pay for the experience. If you moisturize well everyday after tanning and keep your skin soft and moisturized it will NOT have a negative affect on your skin.

Oh and having no tan lines is sexy ..so enjoy :o)
Reply:Look at George Hamilton %26amp; tell me his skin does not look like leather. Tanning DOES age your skin, causes skin cancer (%26amp; yes that is a proven fact) %26amp; also will cause all kinds of uneven spots (usually pre-cancers) to show up on your skin. If you want a great looking safe tan go to a salon %26amp; get airbrushed, it is awesome %26amp; if they are good at what they do, they can create a more sculpted look by the way they apply it. If tanning beds are sooo safe why do you thinks that most of the celebs in Tinsel Town are "fake baking" now???? Don't believe me on the dangers? Check out these links.
